Meet the Athletic Trainer
Children’s Hospital Colorado and Real Colorado Soccer formed a partnership to promote the health and wellness of the entire Real community. As a result, Children’s Colorado Sports Medicine Center now staffs a certified athletic trainer (AT) to provide injury management for Real Colorado players.
ATs are specially trained in Injury/Illness prevention, clinical evaluation and diagnosis, immediate and emergency care, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries and illnesses. ATs have a bachelors or masters degree from an accredited professional athletic training education program and must pass a comprehensive board certification test. ATs work under the direction of physicians, as prescribed by state licensure statutes, and to keep their certification they must meet ongoing continuing education requirements to keep this certification.
What does this mean for you as a member of Real?
* Free injury assessments and recommendations for follow-up care
* Injury management, education and prevention
* Functional rehabilitation

Meet Nicholas Cole: Nick is a Certified Athletic Trainer providing coverage and care to REAL Colorado athletes through Children’s Hospital Colorado. An outdoor enthusiast with a passion for sports medicine, Nicholas prides himself on his ability to provide a high level of care with composure in critical situations.
As an Athletic Training graduate from James Madison University, Nicholas was fortunate enough to be a part of the JMU football program during the 2016 FCS National Championship. After graduation, Nicholas chose to ply his trade down the road at Virginia Union University, located in the cultural heart of downtown Richmond. Working with the Virginia Commonwealth University medical team, Nicholas specialized in concussion management and rehabilitation while providing coverage for all Virginia Union athletics. Nicholas spent two seasons with the Virginia Union Panthers before turning towards the hills of Colorado. Landing with Front Range Orthopedics, Nicholas split time between outreach care to nearby Longmont High School and time in the clinic with patients of all demographics. Having spent a great deal of time with his Athletic Trainer while in high school himself, Nicholas enjoys giving back to the community and teaching athletes about the machines that propel them down the field and to the net.
Originally hailing from the White Mountains of Conway New Hampshire, Nicholas spends every ounce of free time getting after it in the mountains; be it on alpine skis, his mountain bike, or with backcountry equipment. A former ski racer through college, Nicholas still loves to push the envelope with the same vigor our athletes display on the field.
